Director Roopa Rao, known for her much-acclaimed work Gantumoote, was determined to portray the life journeys of her characters in the film. While fans continue to be captivated by its impact, Roopa recently revealed her upcoming project, Gochara, clarifying that it is not a sequel to Gantumoote despite the line "Gantumoote 2" being crossed out. Roopa explains, "I want to emphasize that this is not a direct sequel, but there is a connection for viewers to uncover when they watch the film."

Discussing the inspiration behind Gochara, Roopa shares that her personal reflections led to the concept. She notes, "As a solo traveler myself, I've encountered questions and concerns about navigating the world alone. Even now, the question remains: 'Do you have someone to meet you at your destination?' People seem reassured only when I mention a companion meeting me. This sparked the idea of exploring the journey of a woman traveling solo, both inwardly and externally."

Roopa elaborates on the theme of societal perceptions in the film, stating, "Through discussions with women during my travels, I've noticed a recurring issue—not with the woman traveling, but with how men perceive her solo adventures. Their attitude towards independent female travelers forms a central aspect of Gochara. The protagonist's travels across India promise diverse experiences, aiming to empower women viewers in their own unique ways. Ultimately, I hope this film challenges and transforms male perspectives as well."
